Witt Darnell Alexander, Jr.’s Previous Record:

Sources report that the killing occurred around 2 a.m. at 1425 N. Long Street. A call to 911 Dispatch reported shots being fired into a N. Long Street home.

When deputies arrived they found Mirah Turner and immediately began rendering aid to the victim. Shortly afterwards EMS services arrived and a medic pronounced Turner dead at the scene.

According to sources Turner was inside her home with her mother when Alexander allegedly arrived and attempted to force his way into the home. Turner attempted to secure the door, as Alexander allegedly fired multiple shots, hitting the victim. This crime may be linked to a shooting that occurred earlier Sunday at 117 W. 11th Street in the same vicinity.

Local law enforcement sources say that Mirah Turner was not an intended target and did not know Alexander. There may be other suspects or persons of interest in this case. Apparently investigators are looking for a vehicle and a person seen standing in the yard at the time of the killing.

The Late and Much Beloved Mirah Turner:

The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office moved swiftly to obtain arrest warrants for Alexander for murder and shooting into an occupied dwelling.

At this time early in the investigation no motive has been supplied yet for the shooting.
