♦ Crime is no stranger to the W. Bank Street and S. Jackson Street sides of the Rowan County Library, HQ, rear parking lot.  Purse snatching, car break-ins, strong arm robberies, and muggings are chronic.  The robbers know that booklovers walk into the rear of the library with wallets and purses.  Criminals understand these folks carry their library cards and generally offer little resistance.  A strong arm or a purse snatching can be accomplished most times without a struggle.

According to Salisbury Police sources Douglas Mack Adams, 58, of Hammond Drive in Charlotte, was the victim of a “robbery–strong arm robbery no weapon” in the rear parking lot of the Rowan County Library at 201 W. Fisher Street in Downtown Salisbury.  Adams gave up $360 and his T-Mobile Smartphone Sim card (valued at $25) to the robber whole quickly left the area.

At this time no arrests have been made and no suspects have been revealed.
