♦ At one time historic renovators tried their hand at gentrifying Salisbury’s tough Park Avenue tenderloin, but it didn’t fair so well. Renovator’s trucks were broken into and scrappers stole pipes, metal gutters, wiring, and newly hung doors from renovated properties.  Renovators, who stayed too long after dark, sometimes were robbed when they stepped out to their trucks.  On the 600 block of Park Avenue numerous robberies and muggings have taken place.  Men and women, high on laced heroin have become miscellaneous bodies found in the “Park that Time Forgot”.

According to Salisbury Police sources Joseph Leonard Rogers, 53, of the “streets of Salisbury”, became the victim of a “robbery-strong arm no weapon” and an “assault-simple physical” on Tuesday evening when someone he was acquainted with, punched and kicked him during a robbery near 611 Park Avenue.  It is not known at this time if gave up anything of value to the robber.  Rogers sustained minor injuries. The crime was reported to 911 Dispatch at 7:37 p.m. and brought officers to the area.
