UPDATE Salisbury: Homicide on Ackert Ave Tuesday A.M. Man Dies in the Road from Gunshot Wounds in the 3rd Salisbury Homicide of 2018

♦ Salisbury Police sources report that Quavist Phillips, 18, of 408 Arbner Road, Spartanburg, S.C. was shot-to-death sometime before 11 a.m. on the middle of the 300 block of Ackert Avenue not far from Tillman Street. (In the area of W.G. Bill Hefner VA Medical Center on Brenner Avenue) Phillips was found bleeding out in the street at Ackert Avenue and was pronounced dead. This was the 3rd homicide in 2018.

Witnesses allegedly tipped of the Salisbury Police about a female suspect Doreen Tamera Richardson, 23, whose last known address was in Gaston County. She was turned over by her family to the Sheriff’s Office a few hours ago who handed the Richardson over the Salisbury Police. In the early afternoon Richardson’s name was being mentioned on 911 Dispatches.

The crime scene quickly turned into a homicide investigation with Salisbury Police vehicles filling up the area. They were soon joined by investigators from the N.C. SBI. Ackert Avenue was blocked off at Walker Street.

Detectives gathered evidence and brought it to a tent between two crime scene tapes spread across Ackert Avenue.

The Late Quavist Phillips was an emerging Freestyle Rapper who goes by the name “Yung Carlito” and has videos out on YouTube.com.

Rowan-Salisbury Schools called for a lockdown of Knox Junior High, Overton Elementary, and Horizons Unlimited at 11:20 a.m. The lockdown ended at 11:50 a.m.
