♦ “There’s nothing quite like watching a cinderblock hurtling end over end in the street light and the tinkle of glass shards landing on the pavement beside what was once a very large plate glass window.  With the alarms sounding, you only have so much time to admire your handiwork. It’s time to scat or fall prey to the advancing sirens” Ray Ray Sotomayor, South Bronx, Nuevo York

Almost daily Salisbury, N.C., at crossroads to nowhere, is in the crosshairs of rockers, spray painters, graffiti and gang tag artists, pellet gun marksmen enchanted by windows, car defilers, and other maestros of defacement.  The tidal wave of vandalism rises throughout out the blighted city.

According to Salisbury Police sources the Salvation Army Church, on 620 Bringle Ferry Road, was the victim of “vandalism” when vandals smashed 3 windows (valued at $1,000) on Sunday.  It is not known at this writing whether the vandals used a rock, baseball bat, shovel, pipe or hammer to smash the windows.  Some kind of a blunt object found the mark.  The crime was reported to 911 Dispatch at 9:18 a.m. Police vehicles moved into the area, but the vandals were long gone.
