♦ A number of popular Salisbury eateries that serve alcoholic beverages appear to attract a fair share of criminal violence including robbery, shootings, knifings, as well as murder.  Since early 2017 Go Burrito, Applebee’s, and the Firewater come to mind.  If the city were to close any of these establishments, their “clientele” would simply drift to another establishment servings drinks.  Some folks have suggested creating a curfew where these eateries, serving drinks, would shut down such operations between 9 P.M. and 10 p.m.  Few people venture out at night in Salisbury anyway due to the city’s reputation for gun and knife violence not only in restaurants with bars, but at the city’s much robbed convenience stores.

According to Salisbury Police Department sources Arvilee Gaither, 29, of N. Shaver Street, was the victim of a “robbery-strong arm no weapon”,  “assault-simple physical”, and “interfering with emergency communications” at Applebee’s Restaurant at 205 Faith Road on Thursday night.  Ms. Gaither allegedly encountered an ex-boyfriend who strong arm robbed her and physically assaulted her in order to steal her $800 cellphone.  Ms. Gaither sustained minor injuries during the assault and robbery and could not call 911 dispatch as the result of her cellphone being snatched. Eventually 911 Dispatch was called at 9:13 p.m. and the crimes were reported.  Soon Salisbury Police vehicles wheeled into Applebee’s lot.

The Police are currently looking for the suspect.
