Sanders became a suspect late this afternoon in Yarborough’s murder after an intensive investigation by Rowan County Sheriff’s Office detectives along with the N.C. SBI conducted at the homicide scene at a home on 1270 Gheen Road in Salisbury. Deputies were called to the home after a woman called 911 dispatch and told them someone was shot at that address and promptly hung up. Sheriff’s office deputies drove into the area quickly and found gunshot victim Gregory Yarborough. Rowan EMS determined Yarborough died at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds.

Crime scene tape stretched across front yard of the home at 1270 Gheen Street next to an old wood church in rural Salisbury. The crime scene was rapidly secured by Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigative Division detectives and N.C. S.B.I. investigators who painstakingly poured over evidence and reviewed information.
