Salisbury: Man Shot in Chevvy Malibu Tuesday at E. Henderson and N. Long Sts. Victim Transported to Hospital with a Shattered Thigh Bone

♦ Salisbury Police sources and area residents report that Cornelius Lopez Colson, 42, 600 N. Ellis Street, was shot while riding with an acquaintance in a 2013 silver Chevvy Malibu Tuesday at the intersection of E. Henderson and North Long Streets in Salisbury.  An argument escalated to the point that the yet unnamed suspect drew a handgun and shot Colson when he attempted to bail out of the car.  The gunshot penetrated Colson’s buttocks and shattered the long bone in his thigh (femur).  Bleeding from the wound, Colson was transported to the trauma center at Wake Forest Baptist  Medical Center in Winston Salem for surgery.  His wound is reported to be not life threatening.

Colson at first reported his assailant as a stranger, but apparently changed his mind.  Police sources say they are looking for a suspect in this shooting and that charges will be forthcoming.

Gun violence appears to be on the rise in Salisbury as the weather warms.
