♦ According to Salisbury Police and China Grove Police sources, Ricky Ray Shackleford, 56, and his step-son Halston Lee Clark, 23, living at 335 Fox Run Road in Salisbury, N.C., were arrested Friday and charged with six alleged pharmacy robberies in Salisbury, China Grove, and Kannapolis. The armed robberies involved many thousands of dollars worth of highly addictive painkiller opioid pills and alprazolam an anti-anxiety pharmaceutical. At this writing the total value of all the pills involved in the robberies is said to be $14,384.

Shakleford is charged with helping his step-son Clark with the China Grove Rite Aid Pharmacy on 508 Hwy 29 North robbery on January 24th, 2018. Clark allegedly also robbed the China Grove Rite Aid, on 508 Hwy 29 North, on November 29th, 2017.

Clark and Shakleford are alleged to be suspects in another pharmacy robbery in Kannapolis, but so far no specific information has been released.

In all the robberies Clark allegedly either handed pharmacy employees a note threatening a gun or he showed them a semi-automatic handgun.

Clark is charged with Salisbury Rite Aid robberies on 640 W. Jake Alexander Boulevard on October 23rd, 2017 and November 24th, 2017 as well as the CVS Pharmacy on 1924 Statesville Boulevard on December 17th, 2017.

Both Clark and Shackleford are being held in the Rowan County Detention Center. Clark is under a secured $300,000 bond and Shackleford is under a secured $160,000 bond.

The intensive investigations into these six pharmacy robberies are ongoing and are being conducted by the Salisbury Police Department, the China Grove Police Department, and the NC SBI.

Pharmacy robberies are likely to continue due the increased difficulties in doctor shopping for prescriptions due to new state opioid laws, the nationwide opioid epidemic, and the ease with which pharmacies are robbed where employees are urged not to resist armed robberies. Only good security cameras and armed security serve as a barrier through identifying robbers. Citizens providing tips helps get these robbers off the streets and behind bars.
