Salisbury: Elijah Tamaun Black Arrested Thursday Night for the Alleged Shooting of Quandaus Gaither Thursday A.M. at 115 E. 11th Street

♦ According to Salisbury Police sources, Elijah Tamaun Black, 19, of the 100 block of Clancy Street in Salisbury was arrested Thursday at 9:01 p.m. at 815 W. Fisher Street for the alleged shooting of Quandaus Zave Gaither, 19, of 913 Poplar Street outside a home at 115 E. 11th Street in Salisbury.

The shooting allegedly occurred at 1:31 p.m. and came at the end of an argument.  Gaither was transported by ambulance to Novant Health Rowan Medical Center.  His back wound was reported to be non-life threatening.

Black was charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury (felony).

Under a secured $50,000 bond, Black as being held in the Rowan County Detention Center until he made bail.

“Salisbury Police sources report Quandaus Zave Gaither, 19, of 913 Poplar Street was shot outside a house on 115 E. 11th Street in Salisbury across from the Henderson Independent School. The shooting was reported to 911 dispatch at 1:30 p.m. and brought police quickly into the area. Gaither was said to have non-life threatening back wound and was transported by an ambulance to Novant Health Rowan Medical Center for treatment. At the scene of the shooting he was said to be talking and responsive. A handgun was employed in the shooting.

Neighbors report an altercation took place prior to the shooting.

E. 11th Street was blocked off. Crime scene tape was strung across the front yard of a house at 115 E. 11th Street. A K-9 was brought in to track down the shooter, but lost the track early on. A warranted search was conducted of the house.
