♦ It’s the Christmas Season in Salisbury and its being celebrated by muggings and purse snatchings gone wild in parking lots all over the city.  Folks do not carry a pocketbook or anything of value in a parking lot because you are open season.  The predators are everywhere night and day.

According to Salisbury Police sources Daniel Pastor Cruz-Najar, 16, was arrested at 6:05 p.m. Tuesday for an alleged attempted common law robbery (felony) at the Lakeview Apartment Homes on 500 Lakeview Drive in Salisbury. He along with two other young men allegedly attempted to rob Joni Owens, 56, of Ashbrook Rd. of her purse in the West End Plaza Parking lot. The trio ran toward Badcock Furniture. The Police caught up with Cruz-Najar a short time later.

Owens was alleged to have positively IDed Cruz-Najar. Under a secured $5,000 bond, Cruz-Najar is being held in the Rowan County Detention Center.
