UPDATED! Salisbury Police Identify Deshawn Patrick Clark as Friday Night’s Murder Victim Shot in the Taco Bell Parking Lot on E. Innes St.

♦ According to Salisbury Police sources Deshawn Patrick Clark, 30, of 520 E. Liberty Street in Salisbury, was identified as the Friday night’s murder victim shot in the Taco Bell parking lot on 602 E. Innes Street.  Clark left the lot on foot and made it to the FT Tobacco Company and VAPE shop at 618 East Innes where he collapsed.  Clark was transported to Novant Health Rowan Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

“According to Salisbury Police sources a 30-year old Black male, yet to be identified, was shot in the Taco Bell parking lot at 602 E. Innes Street in Salisbury sometime around 8:40 p.m.  911 dispatch received a report of multiple gunshots in the Taco Bell parking lot around 8:44 p.m.

Bleeding profusely, the wounded man made it on foot to the nearby F.T. Tobacco Company and VAPE Shop at 618 E. Innes St. where he collapsed. An EMS vehicle transported him to Novant Health Rowan Medical Center.  He expired at Novant a short time later.

Bystanders, near the shooting, believed several shots were fired.  The shooting occurred after two groups of young people started arguing.  The suspected shooter, yet to be identified, allegedly went to a vehicle parked in the lot and pulled out a handgun before shooting the victim.  The two groups in the parking lot scattered quickly.  Tires squealed as cars sped out of the lot. Some of the activity extended as far as KFC on E. Innes Street. Several vehicles in the parking lot at Taco Bell suffered bullet damage as did one up by KFC,

The Salisbury police, Sheriff’s Office vehicles, and EMS arrived quickly on the scene. The SBI joined the investigation later. Police investigators interviewed persons, who witnessed the shooting, inside of Taco Bell and gathered shell casings and laid down markers.  As yet the Salisbury Police have not said what the two groups argued over.

This is 2017’s 9th homicide in Salisbury, N.C. There were 11 homicides in 2016.
