♦ Salisbury Police sources report the Rite Aid Pharmacy on 640 W. Jake Alexander Boulevard was the victim of a “robbery-firearm” on Monday evening.  The robber threatened a Rite Aid pharmicist with a note saying he had a gun and wanted all the oxycodone pills in the safe. He got a bag full of oxycodone pills from behind the counter.  The total value of the powerful and highly addictive synthetic opioid hydrocodone AKA OxyContin was $191.79. Mercifully no one was hurt during the robbery. The specific firearm used was never identified because a gun was never displayed. The crime was reported to 911 dispatch at 7:45 p.m.

The robber fled toward Maupin Avenue before the Police arrived a short time later after receiving the 911 dispatch. The track of the robber was lost although his camouflage hoodie jacket was found. The robbery remains under investigation. No suspect is named at this time.

Hopefully the Salisbury Police will post security camera stills of the robber. The robber is described as a white male with a red bushy beard about 5 foot 10 inches tall and about 160 lbs. He wore a camouflage hoodie jacket and blue jeans. His face was obscured by his hoodie.

In Salisbury both Rite Aid and Walgreens pharmacies appear to be the most targeted stores for opioid robberies.
