♦ Sunday evening many persons were alarmed by the volume of gunfire heard in Fulton Heights in the Ridge Avenue area.  Our emails and Facebook messengers lit up.  Was this another Salisbury shooting or even the 9th murder in 2017?  People get on edge and rightfully so in Salisbury the 9th ranked most dangerous city in North Carolina.  Here are the results of what RFP could find out about the Ridge Avenue gunfire:

According to Salisbury Police sources Marquis Shahkor Suber, 24, a Salisbury felon living on E. Fisher St. and Raymond Nicholas James, of Kannapolis, were arrested at 7:20 p.m. at 140 Ridge Avenue in Salisbury’s Fulton Heights community after 911 dispatch reported gunfire in the area. The pair were driving a white VW Jetta. The two were found in a field.  Suber and James were arrested and charged with various alleged felony firearm and drug charges.

A search of their vehicle tuned up a Glock 32 handgun, a Glock 19 handgun, .22 revolver, .38 revolver, and a Smith & Wesson M & P assault rifle. Also found during the search wear 10 grams of cocaine, digital scales, and a phone.

If you go into Salisbury to celebrate Labor Day, stay alert and aware. Drinking and drug use can intensify anger and old animosities. Any club, bar, or picnic can suddenly become a battleground. If you sense challenges arising, trust your good sense and exit the area. Drive safely and turnover your keys to a sober friend. You don’t want to wind up on a Medical Examiner’s table or have friends identify you in a morgue.
