♦  Next to convenience store clerks and taxi drivers, pizza delivery persons face a nightly dice roll with danger when they pull up to apartment complexes and empty office buildings after dark in Salisbury.  Tonight might be their destiny with a slug and 8 inches of blood grooved steel over chicken wings and pizza.  Will their helicopter transport them to a trauma center in Winston-Salem in time?

According to Salisbury Police sources Robert Dalton, 50, living on Stokes Ferry Road in Salisbury and a pizza delivery person for Domino’s Pizza, 1610 W. Innes Street, was the victim of a “robbery-firearm” when he attempted to make a delivery to an apartment at 132 Pearl Street on Friday night.  Menaced with a handgun, Dalton was roughed up in the driveway behind the building.  The police event report contained no mention of money, pizza, or wings being turned over to the bandit. The driver sustained minor injuries.  The crime was reported to 911 dispatch at 11:43 p.m. and brought officers to the scene.

At this time no arrests have been made or suspects have been named.
