Howard Manuel Mickel, III, Sought for the Alleged Murder of Antonio Rashawnd Lee in East Spencer, Arrested Today in Greensboro, N.C.

♦ Howard Manuel Mickel, III, 32, sought for the alleged murder of Antonio Rashawnd Lee in East Spencer was arrested in Greensboro, N.C. today at 12 noon according to Chief Sharon Hovis of the East Spencer Police. The suspect will be transported by Rowan County Sheriff’s Office Investigators back to Rowan County Detention Center in Salisbury.

Chief Hovis credits Rowan County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Chad Moose and SBI investigator Steve Holmes for providing tremendous assistance in bringing suspect Mickel to justice.

Howard Manuel Mickel, III, of Greensboro and more recently living in East Spencer, N.C., was wanted for the 1st degree murder of Antonio Rashawnd Lee, 26, of Salisbury at the Grant Street Apartments on 200 Grant Street on June 11th in East Spencer, N.C.

Today Mickel was charged with murder (first degree) (felony), weapons possess by a felon of firearms etc. prohibited (felony), and 2 counts of failure to appear/comply (misdemeanor).

Mickel is being held in the Rowan County Detention Center without bond. He will have his first court appearance on Friday June 22nd.

According to sources in the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office witnesses allege that Antonio Rashawnd Lee told the Mickel to “put your gun and fight me” before Mickel allegedly shot him in the head.  Witnesses alleged they heard a single gunshot and saw Mickel walking away from the scene.
