Cedrick Ross, Arrested Thursday Night After an Alleged High-Speed Chase Across Salisbury, Gets an Armload of Felony Charges

♦ According to Salisbury Police sources Cedrick Cornell Ross, 34, a felon dwelling at 402 Vance Avenue in Salisbury, was arrested Thursday night after an alleged a high-speed chase across the city that only ended when he slammed his Blue Ford SUV in through the Rufty-Holmes Senior Center Sign at 1120 S. Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue.  Prior to his high-speed chase and capture by a Salisbury Police officer, Ross was about to be served with outstanding warrants by a Rowan County Sheriff’s Office deputy on Bendix Drive near the Economy Inn at 11 p.m.

Ross, not up for being arrested, floored his Ford SUV and tore off across Salisbury with both Sheriff’s deputies and police officer joining in the break-neck pursuit.  Faith Road, Newsome Road, Longview Avenue went by in a blur.  Crawford Street disappeared in the rearview mirror as Ross’s Ford SUV raced onto Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue where it eventually lost control and smashed into the Rufty-Holmes Senior Center Sign at 1120 S. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Ross’s alleged misadventure was not over yet.  Fleeing from his SUV, he was tackled by a Salisbury Police Officer and brought to the ground before he was handcuffed. Officers found small amount cocaine on the ground and a stolen gun Ross allegedly attempted to ditch.

Ross was charged delay/resist/obstruct a public officer (misdemeanor), receiving or transferring stolen vehicles (felony), vandalism to real property, willful and wanton injury (misdemeanor), weapons possession by a felon of firearms etc. prohibited (felony), possession of controlled substance II (felony), possession of a controlled substance VI (misdemeanor), alter or destroy, steal evidence of criminal conduct (felony), and flee/elude arrest with a motor vehicle (felony).

Under a secured $50,0000 bond, Ross is being held in the Rowan County Detention Center.  Friday morning was his first hearing.
