♦ We have been following this shooting report since just after noon today when received reports of multiple gunshots being fired somewhere in the vicinity of Salisbury High School.

Later we learned from sources in the Salisbury Police Department that a drive-by shooting took place on the 700 block of Victory St. near the intersection of Wilson Road not far from where Albert Brice Shelton, Jr. was murdered last December and in the vicinity of where Aaron Phillip Vaughn was murdered in October of 2014.   Today’s 2 shooting victims Fred Miller, Jr. and Santario Tramon Johnson, 27, of the streets of Salisbury, were standing on a porch at 707 Victory Street when a vehicle pulled up and began firing on them.  At least 6 shots were fired in rapid succession before the light blue van sped away. A neighbor, not wishing to be identified, claim they heard 10 shots.

Later today Jermaine Lafayette Robinson, 16, of Kannapolis and Elijah Da’Swan Leach, 17, of Salisbury were picked up along with a minor and were taken into custody by the East Spencer Police on the 200 block of Grant Street by the Weant Street Apartments. The light blue van carrying Robinson, Leach, and a minor was allegedly identified as involved in the drive-by and was reported stolen. The East Spencer Police turned the 3 over to the Salisbury Police for questioning.

Jermaine Lafayette Robinson was charged with 2 counts of assault with a dangerous weapon with intent to inflict serious injury (felony) and assault by pointing a gun (felony). Under a secured $75,000 bond, Robinson was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center.

The 700 Block of Victory Street Near Wilson Road:

Location Victory Street and Wilson Road, Salisbury, N.C.:

Sources in the Salisbury Police Department believe today’s shooting “may” have been triggered by the bad blood generated by the Shelton murder.  This theory has not been officially confirmed.

We understand that today’s two shooting victims, Fred Miller, Jr. and Santario Johnson, were transported to Novant Rowan Regional Medical Center for treatment.  Police sources inform us that the 2 victims’ wounds are non-life threatening and were walking. Johnson was released after treatment with a wound to his buttocks. He returned to 707 Victory Street and got involved in a fist fight in the video below. From there he went to Rowan Helping Ministries at 217 Long Street and got involved in another fight. The Salisbury Police removed him from the shelter and arrested him, charging him with disorderly conduct (non specific) disturbing the peace (misdemeanor). Under a secured $2,500 bond, he is being held in the Rowan County Detention Center. The other victim Miller was transported to Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte for further treatment.

Santario Tramon Johnson:

Several hours after the initial shooting and the crime scene was cleared, fights broke out on the 700 block. Here Todd Paris caught the activity on his cell phone:
