“Convenience stores and filling stations are taking a beating from armed robbers in both Salisbury and out in Rowan County.  Aside from being pistol whipped so far no one has been killed or shot by some hothead gunman.  Knock on wood.

According to sources in the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office Ron’s Quick Grocery at 418 S. Enochville Avenue on the Rowan side of Kannapolis was held up by a gunman with a pistol around 8 p.m.  Wednesday.  The robber pocketed $45.53 and no one was shot.  He left behind a damaged cash drawer (valued at $40) and some coins with a roll of pennies.  No injuries were reported.

The robber used the bathroom prior to the stickup and came back out to confront a female clerk.  He demanded she open the register and not to make a scene.  The robber had his hand stuffed in his waistband during the entire episode.  When the register was opened, he grabbed the cash drawer and took off to S. Enochville Avenue.

He’s described as a white male, 6’1″, between 30 and 40 years of age, had a full red beard, and wore glasses.  He wore a John Deere green hoodie sweatshirt with bleach stains on the hood.”
