♦ Jason Paul Elliott, 37, of 9115 Stokes Ferry Road in Salisbury, was tracked down by a Salisbury Police Dog named Zero minutes after officers were dispatched to a burglary call around 2 p.m. on Tuesday to a home on Terrace Drive.  Eliot, wearing a black mask and toting a knapsack, was surprised by the female home owner who chased the alleged burglar a short distance and then called 911.

Within a short time officers showed up with Zero the K-9 who quickly picked up the scent and flushed Elliot out near Faith Road.  After Elliot’s surrender, the police located two bags nearby packed with items from the victim’s home.  The police recovered a number of video games, jewelry, and two handguns (.22-caliber and 9 mm).

Elliott was charged with breaking and entering a building (felony) and felony larceny–committed pursuant to violation of GS 14-51,54.

Elliott was placed under a secured $10,000 bond and is now in the Rowan County Detention Center.

Elliot has a previous record and is serving an 18 month probation.
